OPINION

ANDERSON, Justice.

Texas Industries (TXI) appeals from a jury verdict in favor of Clabourne Vaughan. Vaughan sued TXI for terminating him in violation of the Texas Workers’ Compensa tion Act. 1 A jury found that TXI wrongfully discharged Vaughan because he filed a workers’ compensation claim and awarded Vaughan $173,116 in compensatory damages and $250,000 in exemplary damages.
