An accident occurred at the intersection of 16th and R Streets in the city of Merced when an automobile driven by Roy Harris struck the side' of a trailer which was attached to a truck, owned by the defendant F. N. Rumbley Company, which was being driven at the time by the defendant Litten. After the impact, the truck and trailer continued on and at some point within a distance of approximately 200 feet the trailer became detached from the truck, swung to the right off the street and struck a pile of lumber owned by the Yosemite Builders Supply Company.
