To obtain an understanding of the specific question presented, it would seem that a somewhat detailed recital of the history of the proceedings is necessary. This action was commenced in June, 1944. The complaint alleged that between June 26, 1943, and April 28, 1944, at various places in the middle section of the United States, including Minnesota, from its bulk distributing plants located therein, defendant sold 1,196,887 gallons of “stove and light gas” in excess of the ceiling price established by Maximum Price Regulation 88, as amended.
