A general court-martial composed of officer and enlisted members convicted the appellant, contrary to his pleas, of attempting to transfer firearms unlawfully in interstate commerce, conspiring to deal in firearms without a license, desertion, failure to obey a general regulation, two specifications of deal*767ing firearms without a license, unlawfully transferring 24 handguns, and unlawfully possessing 19 handguns from which the manufacturer’s serial numbers had been obliterated, in violation of Articles 80, 81, 85, 92, and 134, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. §§…
