In February 1994, Appellant was tried by a general court-martial composed of officer and enlisted members. Contrary to his pleas, he was convicted of attempted transfer of firearms, conspiracy, desertion, failure to obey a general regulation, unlawfully engaging in the business of dealing in firearms, unlawful transfer of firearms and the unlawful possession of firearms, in violation of Articles 80, 81, 85, 92 and 134, Uniform Code of Military Justice [hereinafter UCMJ], 10 U.S.C. §§ 880, 881, 885, 992 and 934 (2000), respectively.
