Before the court is an application by counsel for the parents of Katherine Hawelka for leave to make an oral statement at the time of sentencing of the defendant. She was killed in the course of an attempted rape. On August 13, 1987 the defendant entered a plea of guilty to murder in the second degree and is scheduled for sentencing on September 11, 1987.
