Respondent union (hereinafter called the union) is an unincorporated association whose constitution and by-laws make it an integral part of the Building Service Employees’ International Union. Appellant Newman has been a member of the union since its organization. He was elected its first treasurer, and served in this capacity on a part-time basis until the present controversy. He was last elected on December 14, 1943, for a two-year term expiring December 31, 1945.
