The state moves to dismiss the defendant’s appeal from the denial of his motion for a new trial. The following facts are pertinent to a consideration of this motion.

The defendant was indicted for the crime of murder in violation of Connecticut General Statutes § 53a-54a on October 31, 1978. After a trial to a jury, a verdict of guilty of manslaughter in the first degree was returned on August 13, 1979. The trial court granted the defendant’s motion of September 6, 1979, for permission to file a motion for a new trial and a motion in arrest of judgment.
