This was an action by a boy of fourteen years for injuries sustained through the alleged negligence of the defendant, a concern engaged in operating a circus throughout the country.

Without the knowledge or consent of his parents, a foreman of the circus engaged his services at an agreed compensation of $5.80 per week together with his board and lodging. He was given a meal ticket which entitled him to eat with the circus employees, and a “bunk car” was provided as sleeping quarters, but it was fully occupied by other employees, and when…
