Cowan was convicted by a jury of felony murder while armed, D.C.Code §§ 22-2401, -3202 (1989), second degree murder, id.,1 § 22-2403, carrying a pistol without a license (CPWOL), id. § 22-3204, and attempted distribution of cocaine, id., § 33-541(a)(1) (1988). He seeks reversal of all of these convictions, primarily on the ground that the trial judge refused to instruct the jury on self-defense and defense of a third person.
