West sued the Southern Railway Company to recover damages for personal injuries. The material portions of his petition are as follows: “(3) That on said 10th day of July, 1905, petitioner was employed and for sometime prior thereto had *673been, emploj'-ed by defendant as a member of what was known as the ‘bridge gang/ and as snch was engaged in the work of building and repairing bridges, trestles, and depots on its said system of railroads, both in Alabama and in Georgia.
