DaLomba v. Director of the Division of Employment Security
Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court
1Opinion of the CourtTauro, C.J.
This is an appeal pursuant to G. L. c. 151A, § 42, from a decision of the Municipal Court of the East Boston District upholding the decision of the board of review of the Division of Employment Security (board). The board had refused to hear the merits of the petitioner’s request for a hearing on her disqualification from receiving unemployment compensation benefits on the ground that the request had not been timely filed. This case raises the issue, discussed this day in Commonwealth v. Olivo, ante, 62 (1975), of the adequacy of English-only notice to persons not literate in English.
