This case is before us on appeal by the defendant from a judgment on a directed verdict in favor of the plaintiffs. The action was instituted by the plaintiffs to recover the amount claimed to be due ' on two promissory notes alleged to 'have been executed by the defendant to the plaintiffs. The defendant, in his answer, admits the execution of the promissory-notes set out in the complaint, and that the plaintiffs were the owners and holders thereof, but denies that the same was given for value received or for any lawful consideration whatever; admits that no part of said notes have been…
