Following a jury trial, the defendant, Dennis Hodge, was convicted of one count of murder *210in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a (a),1 one count of manslaughter in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-55 (a) (l),2 and carrying a pistol without a permit in violation of General Statutes § 29-35.3 The trial court rendered judgment in accordance with the jury verdict, and the defendant appealed to this court pursuant to General Statutes § 51-199 (b) (3).4 On appeal, the defendant claims that he is entitled to a new trial because: (1) the state, in selecting…
