MEMORANDUM OPINION

HUVELLE, District Judge.

On January 25, 2006, Franklin B. Reyes filed this petition for a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. §§ 2254 and 2255, challenging a Superior Court for the District of Columbia judgment convicting him of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. Petitioner contends that he was deprived of his Sixth Amendment right to the effective assistance of trial and appellate counsel.
