RICH, Judge.

The basic proceeding to which the present matter relates is a trademark cancellation proceeding, No. 11,955, in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO).1 The trademark is FORMICA and the cancellation petitioner is the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC’s petition was filed May 31,1978. The respondent therein is Formica Corporation, owner of the mark and of its certificate of registration, No. 421,496, under the Trademark Act of February 20, 1905, registered June 4, 1946.2 The mark was republished, with the prescribed affidavits, under § 12(c) of the Trademark Act…
