INTRODUCTION AND FACTUAL BACKGROUND

Mr. Flowers has sued the defendants under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, claiming that in May-2007 he was beaten while in custody at the Will County Correctional Facility. The Complaint seeks compensatory and punitive damages for physical injuries and what is laconically described as “emotional[ ]” “suffer[ing].” (Complaint, ¶ 28).
