CLARKE, Senior District Judge:

In this case, we must decide whether the district court properly entered summary judgment against former Virginia inmate Richard S. Johnson on his § 1988 claim against two prison doctors. Johnson claims that the two doctors were deliberately indifferent to his' medical needs and therefore violated his Eighth Amendment right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment.
