This matter came before the Supreme Court on the appeal of the defendant, Mos-tafa R. Ibrahim, from a Superior Court judgment of conviction entered on February 7, 2002, after a guilty verdict by a jury on one count of second-degree child molestation sexual assault in violation of G.L. 1956 § 11-37-8.3 and § 11-37-8.4. 1 The defendant had been charged with sexually assaulting the nine-year-old sister of his son’s playmate while all three children were spending the day at the defendant’s house.
