In October 1980, appellant was tried at Kaiserslautern, Germany, by a general court-martial composed of officer members. Contrary to his pleas, he was found guilty of rape and of communicating a threat, in violation of Articles 120 and 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. §§ 920 and 934, respectively. He was sen-*165fenced to a dishonorable discharge, confinement at hard labor for 10 years, and forfeiture of $475.00 pay per month for 120 months.
