Following the 1989 collapse of Midwest Federal Savings and Loan Association (Midwest), the Government brought a forty-nine-count indictment against Midwest’s president, Harold Wright Greenwood, Jr., and three other officers, Charlotte Elizabeth Ma-sica, Robert Arnold Mampel, and Susan Greenwood Olson (collectively the appellants).
