*470 {¶ 1} An Ohio statute provides that a no-contest plea to a misdemeanor charge "shall constitute an admission of the truth of the facts alleged in the complaint" and that "the judge or magistrate may make a finding of guilty or not guilty from *471 the explanation of the circumstances of the offense." R.C. 2937.07. John Giordano pleaded no contest to a charge of cruelty to animals for beating his dog.
