On October 25, 1985, a jury found respondent Mark Steven Hall guilty of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, Minn.Stat.. § 609.342(b) (1984); Hall was sentenced to a 43-month term of imprisonment. The Court of Appeals reversed Hall’s conviction and remanded for a new trial on the ground that the trial court committed reversible error by admitting expert testimony concerning the common behavioral characteristics of sexually abused adolescents.
