During 1973 and 1974 the New York City Police Department and the Office of Prosecution of the Special Narcotics Parts conducted an extensive narcotics investigation. Six eavesdropping warrants were obtained and executed. The intercepted communications filled 103 reels. Upon receiving the evidence contained therein, the Grand Jury handed up a number of indictments charging more than half a dozen defendants with conspiracy in the first degree.
