HOLCOMB, Justice.

This is an appeal from a partial summary judgment ordering Earl Ray Andrews, Appellant, to pay a medical bill, interest, attorney’s fees, and costs to Appellee, East Texas Medical Center-Athens (“Medical Center”). Andrews attempted to file a verified denial and subsequently filed a counterclaim against Medical Center alleging that he had received negligent medical care.
