The defendant, John Brewer, appeals 1 from the judgment of conviction rendered by the trial court, following a jury trial, of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a (a) 2 and criminal possession of a firearm in violation of General Statutes § 53a-217 (a) (1). 3 On appeal, the defendant’s sole claim is that, pursuant to State v.
