Plaintiff Karen Scott, an African-American woman in her fifties, worked at George Washington University Hospital from 2007 to 2010. After she was fired in the wake of an altercation with her supervisor, Scott filed a series of three unsuccessful discrimination charges with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
