TANG, Circuit Judge.
This is an appeal from the judgment of the district court denying plaintiff’s motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict or, in the alternative, for a new trial. Jurisdiction exists pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1332 and 28 U.S.C. § 1291. We affirm.
The plaintiff, J. D. Williams, was injured while working on a drilling rig at Amchitka Island, Alaska. He sued Fénix & Scisson, Inc. for negligence, alleging Fénix & Scis-son had undertaken a duty both voluntarily and contractually to oversee and supervise his work.
