Appeal was allowed to review the Commonwealth Court’s decision overturning the Public Utility Commission’s approval of the Verizon/MCI merger.

Pursuant to Pennsylvania’s Public Utility Code, 66 Pa.C.S. §§ 101-3316, the Public Utility Commission (the “PUC” or the “Commission”) is the Commonwealth administrative agency which regulates jurisdictional public utilities, including various telecommunications companies.
