Plaintiff in error, Paul MoKnight, hereinafter referred to as defendant, was indicted in two cases for unlawfully soliciting insurance on behalf of the National Accident Society of Springfield, Ill., “knowing said National Accident Society, at the time, was not organized or incorporated by the laws of the State of Tennessee and said National Accident Society not having received from the Commissioner of Insurance the certificate of authority to transact the business of insurance in the State of Tennessee.” Upon his trial, defendant was…
