Plaintiff in error, hereinafter referred to as defendant, was indicted for a violation of the insurance laws by acting as agent and transacting* business for the Union Mutual Life Insurance Association, a corporation, without obtaining* a certificate of authority from the Department of Insurance and Banking* of the State of Tennessee. On the trial of the case, defendant was found guilty, and his punishment fixed at a fine of $75. Prom a judgment in accordance with the verdict defendant has appealed to this court.
