This action arises out of a dispute concerning the copyrights in two musical compositions titled “Rockin It” and “It’s Magic” (“the Compositions”), both “hip hop” songs originally released in the early 1980s. Darryll *242Barksdale filed this action in December 2001, seeking a declaration of sole ownership of the copyrights in the Compositions.
