Appellee, the village of Bassfield, issued, among- others, two certain school bonds in the principal sum of five ' hundred dollars each, payable to the bearer, dated December 1,1909, and due on the 1st day of December, 1919. These bonds were sold to the People’s Bank of Bassfield, and subsequently they came into the hands of the appellant, the United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company.
