Plaintiff and appellant, Bernice Mann, appeals from a judgment notwithstanding the verdict and conditional grant of a new trial. The trial court granted the motions of defendants and respondents, Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. (Columbia), Warren Beatty, and Robert Towne, after a jury awarded plaintiff a verdict in the sum of $185,000. Plaintiff also appeals from the lower court’s order specifying certain issues to be without substantial controversy.

Mann seeks to recover the reasonable value of ideas embodied in a 29-page written format, entitled “Women Plus,”…
