The Retirement Board of San Francisco, on which there are seven qualified members, by a vote of three to two (two members being absent) denied the application of respondent Josephine Brant for a pension. A rehearing was denied by a vote of two to two. Thereafter, respondent filed petitions for writs of certiorari and mandate with the superior court to secure a review of the board’s ruling. The court ruled that petitioner was entitled to a writ of mandate compelling the granting of the pension, and denied certiorari because the requested relief had been granted by mandate.
