The suit in this case was instituted by the appellants against the appellee company to recover compensation, in the nature of commissions, for their services in causing the workmen’s compensation insurance of the Gathman Ammunition Company to be placed with the defendant company.

At the time the services were rendered the appellants were not agents of the defendant, nor were they licensed by the State of Maryland to* operate therein as insurance brokers; and the sole question presented by this appeal is whether the Court below erred in holding that the appellants, being unlicensed brokers,…
