In this matter, we are asked to resolve a pure question of law.1 Does the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law (the MVFRL), 75 Pa.C.S. §§ 1701-1799.7, require automobile insurers to provide first named insureds the opportunity to waive the stacked limits of uninsured/underinsured (UM/UIM)2 coverage for each instance an insured purchases UM/UIM coverage by adding a vehicle to an existing policy?3,4 The answer is yes.
