These appeals and cross-appeal arise from a judgment for plaintiff and certain orders entered subsequent to a jury verdict in this age discrimination ease. For the *273reasons given below, we affirm in part and vacate in part and remand for a new trial.

Defendant, Xomox Corporation, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Emerson Electric Company, and is engaged in the production and sale of valves and actuators.
