This is another in a series of nearly identical fact patterns prosecuted in this jurisdiction with increasing frequency: a charge that use of an illegally possessed A. T. & T. credit card number was unlawfully offered, for a fee, to travelers at the Port Authority terminal in Manhattan. Here, as in other cases, the People assert that the "service” was offered by a form of huckstering — in this case, that defendant’s words were "you can call the whole world for $8.00.” Such cases have engaged various legal issues, determined by the crimes…
