W. B. Caldwell was a merchant operating a chain of stores, four in number, at Gaffney, Blacksburg, and Chesnee. In the evil days of the depression he became indebted to a number of creditors, whose claims he could not pay. In September, 1932, Junie Smith, a creditor of W. B.
