This cause of action arises from an incident in which plaintiff, Franciszek Neimiec, sustained personal injuries as a result of being struck by an automobile driven by defendant, Mary R. Roels. The trial court granted defendant’s motion for summary judgment pursuant to section 2 — 1005 of the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 110, par. 2—1005).
