ERICKSON, Chief Justice.
We granted certiorari to review the court of appeals’ decision in People v. Banks, 655 P.2d 1384 (Colo.App.1982), that affirmed the defendant’s conviction for first degree murder. Section 18-3-102, 8 C.R.S. (1978). The court of appeals held that although the defendant had been arrested pursuant to a warrant that was later invalidated, the taint of the illegal arrest was sufficiently attenuated to permit admission of the defendant’s confession into evidence.
