Plaintiffs appeal as of right from a grant of summary disposition to defendants on a personal injury claim. Central to plaintiffs’ appeal is the question whether, as a matter of law, wholly owned corporate subsidiaries of an injured worker’s corporate employer may avoid tort liability on the basis of the exclusive remedy provision of the Workers’ Disability Compensation Act, MCL 418.101 et seq.; MSA 17.237(101) et seq.
