We withdraw our opinion of December 11, 1997, and substitute the following in its place. The parties’ motions for rehearing are overruled.

This insurance case involves statute of limitations and collateral estoppel issues, and reevaluates the common-law method of calculating prejudgment interest under Cavnar v.
