On October 25, 1952, the plaintiff, Willie Seals, while working in New Orleans as a longshoreman aboard the S.S. Old Dominion State, was injured. The Old Dominion State at the time was owned by States Marine Lines, Inc., a New York corporation, but had been demised to States Marine Lines, Inc., a Delaware corporation.
