KATZ, J.

The sole issue in this certified appeal is whether the Appellate Court properly concluded that the trial court acted within its discretion when, as part of the defendant’s sentence, it imposed as a condition of probation that the defendant make a charitable donation to the hospital where the victim had been treated *641after being struck and seriously injured by the defendant’s motor vehicle. We conclude that the trial court acted within its discretion when it imposed the condition.
