The Memphis Gaslight Company was a corporation organized under the laws of this State for the purpose of manufacturing and-furnishing gas to the city and citizens of Memphis.

On the first day of April, 1873, a trust deei *272conveying all of its property, rights, and franchises was made by the corporation to S. P. Head, as trustee, to secure the payment of $240,000 of its bonds, payable to bearer in the city of New York, each bond having attached interest coupons falling due semiannually; these bonds are still outstanding.
