The plaintiff sustained severe personal injuries as a result of being struck by a car belonging to and being operated by defendant Bunn (hereinafter called the defendant) at about eight o’clock in the evening of July 29, 1929. At the time of the accident the plaintiff was crossing Main street in the village of Hartland, also known as U. S. highway 16 and state highway 19.
