Joseph Sherman Sargent appeals his conviction of murder in the first degree and arson in the first degree. We modify and affirm.

Facts

Sargent was charged by information with one count of first degree murder and one count of first degree arson, arising from the death of his wife, Lori. On July 11, 1983, the crimes were discovered when the Seattle Fire Department was called to the Sargent home in West Seattle.
