OPINION OF THE COURT

DeFORD, Senior Judge:

Contrary to his pleas, the appellant was convicted by a general court-martial of sodomy upon a child under the age of sixteen years and assault and battery (three speci*604fications) in violation of Articles 125 and 128, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. §§ 925 and 928 (1982) [hereinafter UCMJ]. His approved sentence included a dishonorable discharge, confinement for ten years, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and reduction to the grade of Private El.
